Loose Tipped Log: Buying Guide - South Aberdeenshire

Loose Tipped Firewood Benefits

Maximum volume. Minimal waste.
Loose-tipped firewood is a practical choice for customers across South Aberdeenshire who have suitable vehicle access and enough space to store a larger quantity of logs.

Because the firewood is delivered without bulk bags or wooden crates, there is less packaging to handle or dispose of after delivery. Customers can choose from larger load sizes, with the price per cubic metre reducing as the quantity increases.

Our compact tipping vehicles deliver the logs loose and tip them into a pile as close as safely practical to your preferred storage area. Loose-tipped delivery is particularly well suited to regular stove users, larger properties and customers preparing their firewood supply ahead of the colder months.

For customers who prefer their logs contained and neatly stacked, we also offer approximately 2m³ kiln-dried firewood crates for delivery across eligible South Aberdeenshire postcodes.

Choosing Your Log Size

10" LOGS - OUR STANDARD SIZE
Our kiln-dried logs are cut up to 10" and are suitable for the vast majority of medium and large wood burners.

Compared with an equivalent 9" log, a 10" log contains approximately 11% more firewood, helping provide longer burn times, fewer reloads and better value for money.

8" LOGS - FOR SMALLER STOVES
We also offer logs cut up to 8" for compact stoves, narrow fireboxes and hot tubs.

Please check the size of your firebox before ordering.

How Your Loose Tipped Firewood Is Delivered

We aim to complete South Aberdeenshire firewood deliveries within around 2–5 working days, although timings can vary during busy winter periods.

  1. Your order arrives in one of our compact tipping vehicles.
  2. The driver positions the vehicle as close as safely practical to your requested delivery point.
  3. The tipping bed is raised and the logs are discharged loose into a pile, ready for you to stack.

Vehicle Access Requirements
Our transit sized vehicles can access areas a traditional truck & trailer or larger lorry cannot.

Please allow approximately 2.5 metres of clear access width and ensure there are no low branches, overhead wires or other obstructions above the delivery area.

The vehicle requires firm, stable ground. Soft grass, steep slopes, deep gravel or uneven surfaces may prevent the driver from reaching your preferred tipping point. Final placement is always subject to the driver’s safety assessment on arrival.
